Cincinnati Open unveils Upgrades for 2024, Looks Ahead to 2026 Expansion

Cincinnati, OH – August 6, 2024 – The Western & Southern Open, known as the Cincinnati Open, has completed important renovations to its Lindner Family Tennis Center ahead of the 2024 tournament, running August 17-25. These improvements focus on enhancing the fan experiance and providing state-of-the-art facilities for competing athletes. Further expansion is planned with the opening of The Clubhouse and an indoor tennis center in 2026, transforming the venue into a year-round multi-sport facility.

This year’s tournament will feature expanded fan engagement areas. designated greenspaces, including the Kroger Fan Zone and Preasco Kids zone, will offer a variety of activities for attendees. These zones aim to create a more immersive and family-pleasant atmosphere for the event, which draws over 200,000 spectators annually.

Athlete Facilities Receive Major Overhaul

Recent renovations focused on upgrading the player experience. The lower three floors of the player center have been completely remodeled, expanding locker room space across two levels to accommodate a total of 480 lockers – 332 for players and 148 for coaches. A new, larger fitness center was also added, featuring cutting-edge equipment.

The upgraded fitness center includes:

  • 24 bikes
  • 10 treadmills
  • 4 ellipticals
  • 2 row machines
  • 4 squat racks
  • 2 Smith Machines
  • 2 leg presses
  • Six cold plunges

Additionally, a dedicated broadcast studio for Tennis Channel has been incorporated, allowing fans to view exclusive player interviews and behind-the-scenes content. 42 training tables are available for player nutrition and recovery.

The Clubhouse and Indoor Tennis Center: A Vision for the Future

Looking ahead to 2026, the Lindner Family Tennis Center is completing construction on two significant additions. The 56,000-square-foot Clubhouse will serve as a central hub for player amenities during the tournament, including a restaurant and lounge. Crucially, the Clubhouse is designed for year-round public access, hosting events and providing facilities for other racquet and golf sports.

The Clubhouse will also feature function rooms available for rental and pro shops specializing in golf and racquet sports equipment. Tournament administration offices will be housed within the building. The project is being overseen by the Cincinnati Tennis center Foundation.
