Board-Nominated Candidates: 2027 IEEE President-Elect

The IEEE board of Directors has nominated IEEE Senior Member David Alan Koehler and IEEE Life Fellow manfred “Fred” J. schindler as candidates for 2027 IEEE president-elect.

IEEE Senior Member Gerardo Barbosa and IEEE Life Senior Member Timothy T. Lee are seeking nomination by petition. A separate article will be published in the Institute at a later date.

Koehler is a subject matter expert in power and energy, with a focus on grid modernization and renewable energy integration. He currently serves as the director of advanced technology at New york Power Authority. his career spans over three decades in the power industry, marked by notable contributions too research, development, and implementation of innovative technologies.

Koehler’s involvement with IEEE is extensive. He has held numerous leadership positions within various societies, including the Power & Energy Society (PES). He is a past president of the PES and has been actively involved in standards development, conference organization, and member engagement initiatives.

Manfred “Fred” J. Schindler
