Apple’s next iPad Pro will reportedly get two front-facing cameras

iPad Pro Gains Dual Front Cameras for Seamless Selfies

Apple’s Upcoming Model to Feature Improved Orientation Handling

The next-generation iPad Pro, expected to feature Apple’s M5 chip, is poised to revolutionize selfie-taking and video calls with a significant camera upgrade. This enhancement aims to eliminate awkward framing and ensure subjects remain centered, regardless of how the tablet is held.

Enhanced Selfie Experience

According to industry insider Mark Gurman, Apple plans to equip the upcoming iPad Pro with a second front-facing camera strategically placed on the portrait edge. This dual-camera setup means users can effortlessly switch between landscape and portrait orientations without compromising camera placement for selfies or FaceTime calls.

Addressing Previous User Frustrations

This move addresses a common user pain point. While Apple shifted the single front camera to the landscape side with the 2024 iPad Pro M4, a change welcomed by landscape users, it made portrait-mode Face ID unlocking more cumbersome. The new dual-camera system is designed to make the iPad Pro universally user-friendly for all orientations.

Beyond the camera improvements, the M5 chip is anticipated to bring modest performance boosts and enhanced power efficiency to the new iPad Pro. Rumors suggest Apple is also planning to integrate its latest chips across other product lines, including the Vision Pro, MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iMac.

The demand for versatile tablet use is growing; a recent report indicated that tablet shipments increased by approximately 10% year-over-year in the first quarter of 2024, highlighting the importance of user-friendly design features (Statista 2024).
