Huawei-Backed Aito Launches Global Lineup, Challenging Xiaomi and Aiming for “New Luxury”
Munich, Germany – chinese automaker Aito, a collaboration between Seres and tech giant Huawei, has unveiled its global product lineup at IAA Mobility 2025, directly challenging rivals like Xiaomi in the burgeoning electric vehicle (EV) market. The launch marks Aito’s ambition to deliver a “new luxury” bright mobility experiance, though initial rollout will focus on the Middle East.
Aito’s debut includes the genuine 9, positioned as a high-end variant of the M9 for markets like China and the Philippines. This vehicle offers both Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) and Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) options.The EREV configuration features a 1.5-liter internal combustion engine paired with a ternary NMC battery boasting a maximum capacity of 52 kilowatt-hours (kWh).
For those seeking a fully electric experience,the Genuine 9 BEV packs a substantial 100 kWh battery,delivering a powerful 390 kW (523 horsepower) through a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) system. This compares to 365 kW (~489 horsepower) in the EREV counterpart. Both versions are available in 5 or 6-seat configurations.
Aito also showcased the Aito 5,mirroring the existing M5 SUV,offering similar BEV and EREV options. The Aito 5 delivers a maximum power of 200 kW (~268 hp) from an 83 kWh battery.
