Trump Issues Final Warning to Hamas Over New Gaza Ceasefire Proposal
GAZA – Former U.S. President Donald Trump has delivered a final ultimatum to hamas, demanding acceptance of a newly submitted ceasefire proposal for Gaza. According to reports from Al Jazeera, Trump stated, “Israel has received my requirements. It’s time for Hamas to accept. I have warned Hamas about the consequences if they do not accept. This is my last warning, there will be no other warning.”
The development comes as efforts to end the nearly two-year conflict intensify, with over 64,000 Palestinians killed and much of Gaza leveled. While the specifics of Trump’s proposal remain undisclosed, it follows a similar oral warning issued previously, where he predicted a swift end to the war.The situation is critical as a potential agreement could halt the devastating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, but a rejection risks further escalation and continued bloodshed.
Hamas has acknowledged receiving a “idea” from the U.S. aimed at ending the war, expressing a willingness to engage in negotiations. In a statement, the group said it “welcomes any initiative that helps efforts to stop aggression against our people,” and reiterated its demands for a ceasefire agreement encompassing the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for a complete end to the war, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, and the establishment of a governing committee for the territory.
Last month,Hamas indicated it had received a separate ceasefire proposal from mediators, offering a 60-day cessation of hostilities. However, despite reportedly agreeing to a ceasefire proposal, Israel has continued to intensify its attacks on Gaza, even as international organizations like the UN and human rights groups have described the conditions there as amounting to genocide.
