google Photos Gains AI-Powered Video Creation Tools

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – August 23, 2025 – Google has integrated its artificial intelligence tool, Veo 3, into the Google Photos application, enabling users to transform still images into high-quality videos. The update introduces a suite of creative features, including a “Remix” function capable of converting photos into anime and 3D animations, marking a critically important advancement in mobile photo and video editing.

The new capabilities address a growing demand for accessible video content creation. Google Photos users can now easily produce dynamic videos from their existing photo libraries, opening possibilities for personal storytelling and social media engagement. Access to these features is currently limited to users in the United States, with tiered access based on subscription level.

Veo 3 expands beyond basic image-to-video conversion with tools like “collage,” which simplifies the creation of visually appealing image arrangements, and a “discrimination” feature allowing video production based on search queries, complete with automatically added music.A “cinematic images” function adds depth and realism to photos thru three-dimensional displays.

Users accessing the new features through the “creation” tab receive a limited number of free creation operations daily. Subscribers to Google AI Pro and Ultra plans gain access to expanded capabilities. Google recently integrated the Veo 3 model into YouTube, signaling a broader strategy to infuse AI-driven video tools across its platforms.
