São Paulo – The brother-in-law of Manchester United winger Antony was poisoned wiht rat poison adn the alleged perpetrator has been arrested, Brazilian authorities announced. Eduardo Jose Ananias da Silva, 43, was found dead on June 25th at his residence, wrapped in a bedsheet with his mouth covered by a towel.Initial investigations categorized the death as natural, but toxicology reports revealed the presence of tebufos, a toxic substance commonly found in rat poison.
The suspect, Glaicon Jose Dos santos Feitosa, was arrested in Piedade. Police searches of feitosa’s home and office yielded confiscated cellphones and 1,500 Brazilian real (approximately $300 USD).Feitosa is believed too have been the last person to see Eduardo alive. Eduardo was the brother of Rosilenny Xavier, who is engaged to Antony.
Antony, 24, recently transferred from Manchester United to Real Betis after a less-than-accomplished stint with the English club, where he appeared in 96 matches and scored 12 goals, joining for a reported €100 million in 2022. Prior to his move to Betis, Antony played for Ajax. He has flourished with the Spanish club, scoring 9 goals in 26 matches and helping lead them to the Conference League Final. Betis has since made the transfer permanent for €25 million.
