The game began with Heartfire establishing an early lead, threatening to pull away. However, JHX Hoops mounted a comeback as the first quarter concluded, narrowing the deficit to 13-11. Marcus Bell contributed three points for the Jayhawks in the first quarter, and Eric Griffin scored four points for heartfire.
