Jet’s Fiery Crash: Investigation Progresses Amidst Passenger Identification

An investigation into the recent jet disaster in Ahmedabad continues, as authorities work to identify victims and determine the cause of the catastrophic take-off. The London-bound aircraft was destroyed in a fireball, prompting a thorough examination of the incident and its tragic aftermath.

Engine and Aircraft Inspections

The aircraft’s maintenance records have come under scrutiny. Air India disclosed the plane’s most recent major check was performed in June 2023. Its right engine was refurbished in March 2025, with the left engine undergoing inspection in April 2025.

“The flight was led by Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, a highly experienced pilot and trainer with over 10,000 hours flying widebody aircraft,” it said. “First Officer Clive Kunder had over 3400 hours of flying experience.”
