Zelensky Reveals Kremlin‘s Potential Long-Term War Plan, Warns of Massive Casualties
KYIV, Ukraine – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has disclosed a potential Kremlin strategy suggesting Russia may be prepared to wage war in Ukraine for years, possibly resulting in the deaths of up to three million people. The warning comes as reports surface of Russian demands for full control of the Donbas region in exchange for a ceasefire.
Zelensky’s revelation, made in an interview with ABC News, paints a grim picture of Moscow’s ambitions. He indicated russia may aim for a protracted conflict lasting “for years and one million people” – a figure that coudl escalate to “two or three million dead” if Russia accelerates its offensive. This assessment reportedly stems from information communicated to the United States, including the white House.
The potential Kremlin plan centers on securing complete control of Donbas, encompassing the entirety of Ukraine’s donetsk and Luhansk counties. these regions declared independence in 2014, following Russia’s annexation of Crimea, but have remained partially contested even after the full-scale invasion launched in 2022. According to press reports, Russian President Vladimir Putin has reportedly offered to freeze the conflict along current front lines if Ukraine cedes full control of Donbas.
Zelensky also emphasized the critical need for European nations to cease reliance on Russian oil and gas, labeling current purchasing practices as “frankly unfair.”
The stakes are immense, with the potential for a prolonged and devastating conflict impacting not only Ukraine but also the broader geopolitical landscape. The disclosure of this potential Kremlin strategy underscores the urgency of continued international support for Ukraine and the need for a diplomatic resolution to the ongoing crisis.
