Suns‘ Jalen Green Praises team Chemistry: ‘We’ve Got Dogs’
FRESNO, Calif. – Phoenix Suns guard Jalen Green is effusive in his praise of the team’s burgeoning chemistry, declaring “We’ve got dogs” after a recent show of support that extended beyond the court. The sentiment comes following a remarkable performance fueled by teammate Grayson Allen‘s encouragement and a important gesture of solidarity from the entire Suns roster.
Green’s recent success, including a career-high shooting night, was directly linked to the on-court support of allen. “With Jalen the whole game and Jalen just, every time I came back to the bench, he was just amping me up,” allen said after the game. “‘Go for 40. Go for 50.Go to get 10, go get 11, go get 12 3s.'” Green added he frequently looked to Allen for reaction and motivation.
The team’s commitment to Green extended off the court as well, with the Suns making a special trip to Fresno on Nov. 19 to attend his high school jersey retirement ceremony at San Joaquin Memorial.Green described the event as “a surreal moment,” filled with emotion as he reunited with family, friends, former teachers, and coaches.
“That was super critically important,” green said. “Super big for me for the team to pop out. Meant a lot to me. It was an off day. They didn’t even have to pull up at all. I knew that. I had that in mind going into the jersey retirement. I didn’t expect everyone to come because we’ve been on the road. For everyone to pop out, it meant a lot to me.”
The Suns traveled from Portland, where they defeated the Trail Blazers 127-110 on Nov. 18, to Fresno for the ceremony before returning to phoenix. Suns assistant coach, Mike Ott, highlighted the team’s willingness to adjust their schedule.”It was really cool,” Ott said. “So thankful to fit it into our schedule with the no practice day. It was easy to get in and out and the guys showed up for him. It was really cool to see the high school and all his teammates came back along with his family and friends. It was cool to be a part of.”
