Trump Prioritized Family Buisness with Pakistan Over US-India Relationship, Claims Former National Security Advisor
Washington D.C. – Former US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan has asserted that Donald Trump has jeopardized the strategically vital relationship with India due to business dealings involving his family adn Pakistan. Sullivan argues this shift in policy poses a meaningful long-term risk to American interests and global alliances.
Speaking recently, sullivan stated, “Because of Pakistan’s willingness to do business deals with the Trump family, he has thrown the India relationship over the side. That is a huge strategic harm in its own right because a strong US-India relationship serves our interests.”
Sullivan emphasized the broader implications of this perceived prioritization, warning that other nations will question the reliability of the United States. “Every other country in the world, Germany, japan or Canada, will look at the situation and say ‘that could be us tomorrow’. and that only reinforces your view that you’ve got to hedge against the United States,” he added. He believes this erosion of trust is detrimental to long-term American security.”Having America’s friends and other countries around the world decide that they cannot rely on the US in any way, shape, or form is not in the interest of the American people in the long term. Our word should be our bond…and what’s happening with india right now has huge direct impacts.”
The concerns stem from a series of recent developments involving the Trump family and Pakistan. In April, World Liberty (WFL), a decentralized finance platform reportedly backed by Trump – with Trump and his affiliates holding a 60% stake launched in 2024 – signed agreements with the Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC) to promote investment in the cryptocurrency industry. A US delegation at the signing included Zachary Witkoff, son of WLF co-chairman and Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff.
Further solidifying the connection, the Pakistani army reported in june that Field Marshal Asim Munir and Donald Trump discussed trade, economic development, and cryptocurrency during a meeting at the White House. according to the army’s statement,”President Trump expressed keen interest in forging a mutually beneficial trade partnership with Pakistan based on long-term strategic convergence and shared interests.”
In July, Trump announced a trade deal with Pakistan, simultaneously threatening a 25% tariff on Indian goods. He stated that the US would assist Pakistan in developing its ”massive oil reserves” on his Truth Social platform. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz sharif responded by thanking Trump for the “historic” agreement and expressing optimism for expanded cooperation.
