Trump Pledges U.S. Role in Securing Peace After Ukraine War, Admits Conflict More elaborate Than Anticipated
WASHINGTON – Former U.S. president Donald Trump stated the United States will play a role in ensuring stability following the conclusion of Russia‘s war in Ukraine. The remarks, made during a September 18 interview with Fox News, signal a continued, though evolving, U.S. interest in the conflict’s resolution. https://www.reuters.com/world/us-would-help-secure-peace-after-russias-war-ukraine-trump-tells-fox-news-2025-09-18/
“After the end of the war,we will help to ensure the world. And I think that this will ultimately happen,” Trump said, according to Reuters.
The former president also conceded that resolving the war proved more challenging than he initially believed, expressing disappointment with Russian President Vladimir Putin. “I thought that the easiest would be to solve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine thanks to my relationship with President Putin. Therefore, I was disappointed,” Trump stated.
Trump reiterated his assessment of the strained relationship between Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, characterizing it as a importent obstacle to direct negotiations. “It turned out that this is the most difficult. The relationship between President Putin and president zelensky is terrible. I mean that it really depends on the relationship. They really do not love each other… They hate each other. We will see what happens next. I think we will find a solution,” he said.
He suggested curtailing European purchases of Russian oil as a potential pathway to a resolution, arguing that economic pressure could compel Russia to the negotiating table. “if oil prices fall or if Russia does not sell oil, they will not have any other choice, how to agree, but the countries of the European Union or NATO… When they buy oil in Russia, this is not the best that can be.”
