Wolfenstein Trilogy Still Incomplete, Developer ‌Confirms

Stockholm, Sweden – Despite releasing several Wolfenstein titles⁤ in ‍recent years, including the standalone spin-off Youngblood, ‍developer MachineGames ⁤has‍ revealed⁤ the core narrative arc of⁤ the modern Wolfenstein series remains ⁤unfinished.⁤ Studio co-founder and head Jerk Gustafsson disclosed in a recent ‍Noclip documentary exploring the history of MachineGames that Wolfenstein: The New Order and⁤ Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus where always envisioned as part of a planned ⁢trilogy.

The revelation confirms ⁢long-held suspicions among ‍fans that the‍ story of BJ Blazkowicz and the‌ resistance‍ against the Nazi regime was not fully concluded.Gustafsson explained the studio “has ⁤always visualized the series as a trilogy,” with a pre-planned trajectory‍ for BJ’s⁤ journey across all three ⁣installments, outlining‍ events for “what happens in the first part, in the second part and the third part?”

The New order introduced a more personal element to BJ’s fight, centering on his⁤ relationship with Anya, while The New Colossus ‍ expanded the scope to include a broader resistance movement and the formation of ⁤BJ’s‌ own family.According to Gustafsson, the story isn’t over, stating it is vital ⁢”to note that we‍ are not yet finished with Wolfenstein:‌ we have even more ‌story to tell.”

Wolfenstein: Youngblood, released after The New⁤ Colossus, featured BJ’s daughters ⁣as protagonists in a cooperative experience, ‌but did not advance the overarching narrative established in‌ the first two games. MachineGames’ recent focus has been on Indiana Jones and the great Circle,⁢ but the confirmation of a planned third Wolfenstein title signals a potential return to the franchise and the continuation of BJ Blazkowicz’s story.
