WhatsApp to Give Users More Control Over Status Sharing in New iOS Update
SUNNYVALE, CA – WhatsApp is rolling out an update that will allow users to control who can reshare their status updates, according to a report from Wabtainfo. The feature, currently available to beta testers on iOS 25.27.10.72, introduces a new “allow Share” control within the status editor.
Currently, users can select who views their status – either all contacts or a custom list. This update adds a layer of privacy, enabling users to specifically decide if contacts can then share that status to their own networks. The “Allow Share” option appears below existing privacy controls. Users can also manage this setting within WhatsApp’s data privacy settings, self-reliant of status creation.
The update initially launched for Android beta users and is now expanding to iOS and iPhone owners. While a full public release date hasn’t been announced, WhatsApp typically releases upgrades within weeks or months of beta testing.
