Title: Section 4 Runners Shine at NYSPHSAA Cross Country Championships

Section 4 Runners Compete at 2025 NYSPHSAA Cross Country Championships

section ⁢4 cross country athletes showcased their⁢ talent at the New York ​State Public High School Athletic⁣ Association (NYSPHSAA) championships, held November 15, 2025. Runners from Owego, Vestal, Maine-Endwell, Chenango Forks, Deposit/Hancock, Newark Valley, Odessa-Montour, Delhi/South Kortright, Lansing, Afton/Harpursville/Bainbridge-Guilford, ⁣and Chenango Valley participated⁣ in the event, vying for individual and team honors across Classes C and D. The annual championship meet determines state champions in cross country, and provides a platform for ​athletes to qualify for further competition, including national events.

The NYSPHSAA Cross Country Championships ‌represent the culmination of⁣ a season’s dedication for ⁤student-athletes across New York State. Success at this level requires rigorous training, strategic racing, and unwavering commitment. Results from the meet impact individual ‌rankings, college recruitment opportunities, and ⁣the overall prestige⁢ of Section 4 programs.

Class B Results

In the Class B race, Abigail McHugh of Owego finished with a time of 20:22.7. Sarah Heath (Owego) followed closely behind at ​20:25.2.Kayla Fletcher and Savanna Ulrich, both representing‍ Vestal, recorded ‌times of 20:27.1 and 20:34.9, respectively.‌ Stella Palladino (Owego) completed the course in 20:44.6,while ‍Leyla Kamil (Vestal) finished ​at 20:51.3. Maddison Novotny of Maine-Endwell crossed the finish line in 21:41.8, with Vestal runners mikayla Silverio (21:53.9), Charlotte Frye (22:10.1), and ⁣Lindsey Steele (22:53.6) also competing.

Class C​ Results

Bronxville secured ‌the Class C team title with a score of 77,‌ while Chenango Forks finished 11th with a team score of 265.individually, Mia Horgan of Bronxville claimed the top spot in 17:51.7. Clara Little of Chenango Forks finished 56th with a time of 20:30.8. Evelyn Jackson (Lansing) clocked‍ in at 21:26.7, followed by Lyla ⁤Houser (Chenango Valley) at 21:27.6 and Maddie Ingham‍ (Afton/Harpursville/Bainbridge-Guilford) at 21:28.2.​ Madison Farberman (Afton/H/BG) finished in 21:33.3, while Ceci Kasmarcik (Chenango Forks) recorded a time ⁣of 21:47.9. Additional Chenango Forks runners competing included Lena Lindow (23:12.4), Katherine Yahner (23:34.9), Rebecca Yahner (23:35.2), Mari pourby (24:00.3), and Jaidyn Ericksen-Hrehor (25:07.5). Melody Sternberg (Lansing) finished in 22:24.1.

Class D Results

Tri-Valley dominated the Class D competition, winning the team title with 62 points. Delhi/South Kortright placed fifth with⁢ a score⁤ of ‌142. Anna Furman of ⁤Tri-Valley won the individual title in 18:06.9.⁢ Kali Buttacavoli (Deposit/Hancock) finished 18th with a time of 20:06.4, and Hadley Merrill (Newark⁣ Valley) placed 21st in 20:13. Janne Anderson (Odessa-Montour) completed the course in 20:38.2, while Aurelia Comer ‌(Delhi/South Kortright) finished
