Ukrainian Arrested in Poland Over Railway Sabotage Linked to Russia
Warsaw, Poland – Polish authorities have arrested and charged a Ukrainian national, identified as Volodymyr B., in connection with the sabotage of a key railway line used to supply weapons to Ukraine. The incident, which occurred over a week ago, is being investigated as a purposeful act of sabotage potentially orchestrated by Russia.
The arrest marks a meaningful advancement in the investigation into the railway explosion that damaged a crucial supply route for Ukraine’s defense against Russia. Polish prosecutors allege Volodymyr B. assisted other suspects by scouting the area and identifying potential locations for explosives.Authorities suspect two additional Ukrainian men, believed to be operating under the direction of Russian intelligence, were directly involved and have as fled to Belarus.
According to the polish Public Prosecution Service, B. was apprehended on Thursday and formally charged. He is accused of aiding and abetting the sabotage. The two suspected masterminds are believed to have ties to the Russian secret service, with one previously convicted in absentia in ukraine for sabotage.
The railway line between Warsaw and Lublin sustained serious damage in two locations,discovered when a train driver noticed damage near the village of Mika. Traffic was instantly halted. while four other suspects were initially arrested, three have since been released; the remaining individual faces charges related to concealing Russian passports.
