Gordes, France – The Gordes International Melodie International Competition will return for its 17th edition on September 6th and 7th, drawing a growing number of vocalists with its prestigious prizes and masterclass opportunities. This year’s competition, held at Espace Simiane in Gordes, features solo and duo voice-piano categories and is open to the public free of charge.
The competition has gained renown thanks to support from leading figures in the French lyric scene, including opera houses, festivals, and musical critics who comprise the jury. Winners will receive prizes from the city and department of Gordes, as well as commitments for recitals offered by jury members representing various musical structures.
This year’s jury will be led by French baritone Jérôme Boutillier, following in the footsteps of past presidents like Karine Deshayes, Cyrille Dubois, and the late Béatrice Uria-Monzon. Candidates will be evaluated on their performance of a melody in French, one in a foreign language, and a contemporary composition. The competition’s welcoming atmosphere, with candidates housed among local residents, has been consistently praised.
The winners will be announced on September 7th at 6 p.m. on the forecourt of the town hall. The event is carried forward with renewed momentum by the village, its municipality, and the Voice seasons, now under the direction of Yves Senn.
