The former Spotify Executive Launches Music Company, Signs K-Pop Star Jennie

Jeremy Erlich, formerly of Spotify, has launched Alta Music Group. During his nearly six years at Spotify, Erlich played a key role in the platformS growth, which saw its monthly active users (MAUs) surge from 230 million to 670 million, and its subscriber base expand to 275 million. Prior to his tenure at Spotify, which began in 2019, Erlich spent eight years with Universal Music Group and interscope Geffen A&M.

Erlich expressed his vision for Alta,stating,”Throughout my career,I’ve focused on the best way to serve artists from around the world by creating an environment that sets them up for long-term worldwide success. With Alta,we have the possibility to do exactly that.”

brad Navin, CEO of The Orchard, lauded Erlich’s new venture, remarking, “Jeremy’s decision to launch Alta Music Group is a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit, his deep understanding of the global music landscape, and his commitment to artist growth.” Navin further elaborated on the synergy between Alta and The Orchard, adding, “His artist-first philosophy aligns with The Orchard’s mission to empower creators. We are proud to partner with Alta, leveraging our global distribution network and comprehensive suite of services to help their roster reach the world’s audience and unlock new avenues for success.”

Erlich reiterated his dedication to artists, stating, “With Alta, we have the opportunity to do exactly that – a best-in-class team focused solely on artists and managers who have already trusted me and our business.”

The Alta management team also includes What Khalilian, who previously led international operations for the music distribution and payment platform STEM. Khalilian also served as Senior Director of International Marketing at Interscope Records, where he worked with artists such as Gracie Abrams and Karol G, as well as Interscope Records Label Group’s artists like I Gotti, Glorilla, and Moneybagg Yo.

khalilian shared his enthusiasm for Alta’s mission: “Alta is about putting artists first and helping them navigate an ever-evolving industry with a clear strategy. I am honored to work alongside Jeremy to build a company that champions our artists’ creativity and global impact. We aim to be the best possible partners for artists to build a lasting legacy.”

Joining Erlich and Khalilian on the Alta team are Parker Ulry, Drake Hofer, Elise Eriksen, Gillian taugher, and Michael Seltzer. Ulry has held positions at Interscope Records and spearheaded digital marketing for artists including DaBaby, Summer Walker, Blackbear, Schoolboy Q, and Eminem, among others, at warner Records. Seltzer previously served as Executive Vice President of Commercial and legal Affairs at UMG, overseeing commercial transactions and facilitating key agreements for the company, encompassing recording contracts, label ventures, distribution deals, merchandise, vendor agreements, brand entities, brand partnerships, and film/television/theatrical ventures.
