Havana,Cuba - September 16,2025 – Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz,Vice Prime Minister of Cuba and a highly decorated figure in the nation’s political and economic landscape,has died at the age of 88 following a prolonged illness. His death marks a significant loss for the Cuban government and the ruling Communist Party.
Cabrisas Ruiz dedicated his life to public service,holding key positions in various ministries focused on economic affairs and representing Cuba on the international stage. He co-presided over intergovernmental commissions for economic and financial relations with numerous countries and served as a member of the Central Committee of the Party and a deputy to the national Assembly of Popular Power.
Throughout his career, Cabrisas Ruiz earned the trust of successive Cuban leaders, including Fidel and Raúl Castro, and the current direction of the Party, State, and Government. He was recognized for his modesty and austerity, and was awarded the Honorary title of hero of the Work of the Republic of Cuba for his distinguished service to the country.
