Putin Welcomed to China for Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit
Tianjin, China – September 1, 2023 – Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in China today for a four-day official visit, kicking off with a welcome ceremony for heads of delegation attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Tianjin. The ceremony, held at the Tianban Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Centre, included an official group photo and a gala reception.Putin’s visit comes at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. During the summit, Putin will participate in the SCO Heads of State Council Meeting, held in the SCO plus format.
The agenda also includes a trilateral meeting between the presidents of Russia, China, and Mongolia in Beijing, followed by bilateral talks between Putin and Xi Jinping.
beyond the SCO summit, President Putin will attend commemorative events marking the 80th anniversary of the victory over militarist Japan and the end of World War II.The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation is a Eurasian political, economic, and security alliance, founded in 2001 by the leaders of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
