prince Andrew Reportedly Facing Highland Exile After Title Loss
LONDON – Prince Andrew may be facing a future largely removed from royal life, possibly residing in a Highland town in Scotland, following his relinquishing of military affiliations adn royal patronages, according to recent reports. Author Nigel Lownie, speaking to The Times, suggests a move to the Scottish Highlands could represent a form of exile for the Duke of York.
The shift comes after Andrew was stripped of his honorary military roles and royal patronages in January 2022, following a sexual assault lawsuit filed in the United States. He settled the case out of court, but the scandal severely damaged his reputation and led to his removal from public duties.
Lownie claims Andrew’s daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, “have had counselling to deal with the various scandals their parents have been involved in,” and that rumors suggest they are having “much less contact with their father than they once did.”
According to Lownie, a decision by andrew and his former wife, Sarah, Duchess of York, to spend Christmas at Sandringham with the Royal Family, rather than with their daughters, “will show that Andrew and Fergie have been disowned by the only two people they could once rely on for unconditional support.”
The Duke and Duchess of York currently reside at Royal Lodge in windsor Great Park. A move to the Scottish Highlands would mark a significant geographical and symbolic distance from the center of royal life.
