The potential benefits stem from hesperidin, a flavonoid found in oranges, and other components like pectin and essential oils.A study highlighted by the Daily record found that drinking hesperidin-enriched orange juice over a ‌12-week period reduced blood pressure among participants, leading researchers to suggest it “could be a useful co-adjuvant tool for ‍blood pressure and pulse pressure management in pre- and stage-1 hypertensive individuals.” High blood‍ pressure affects roughly one in ⁢four adults in the United States,according to ⁢the centers for Disease ⁣Control and Prevention,making effective management strategies a critical public health concern.

Further bolstering‌ these findings, a 2013 study published in the Arya atherosclerosis journal demonstrated a “significant” reduction in blood pressure among‍ participants who consumed orange juice over a 60-day period, a result not observed ‌in other test subjects. Researchers‌ theorized that the higher flavonoid, pectin, and essential oil content in concentrated orange juice products might potentially be responsible for this effect.
