Indonesia Poised for New Oil & Gas Project Onstream next Week, SKK Migas Confirms

Jakarta – IndonesiaS upstream oil and gas sector is set to welcome another project into production next week, according to the Special Work Unit for the Implementation of upstream Oil and Gas Business activities (SKK Migas). This upcoming onstream event is part of SKK Migas’s target to bring 15 projects online this year.

While the specific project remains undisclosed due to SKK Migas’s policy on project announcements, Hudi D Suryodipuro, Head of SKK Migas’s Program and Communication Division, confirmed the timeline.”in the near future ther will be. Next week stay tuned,that is on Tuesday.That will be onstream,” Suryodipuro stated at an educational media event in Jakarta on Friday, July 25, 2025.

Suryodipuro indicated that the new project is a continuation of the projects that have already commenced production this year,adding to the nation’s energy output. “That is a follow-up of the new-stream project this year so there is an addition from there.Anyway, later just stay tuned, we will soon be released,” he added.

Year-to-Date Onstream Projects

As of the proclamation,four oil and gas projects have successfully commenced operations in 2025:

  • Letang Central Swamp Expansion: Operated by Medco E&P Grissik Ltd,this project began production on March 14,2025,with a planned capacity and production of 70 MMSCFD.
  • balam GS Upgrade: PT pertamina Hulu Rokan brought this project online on May 16, 2025. It has a project capacity plan of 35,000 BOPD, with a production plan reaching 31,921 BOPD.
  • Terubuk Project: Medco EP Natuna commenced operations for this project on April 24, 2025. It has a capacity and production plan of 6,654 BOPD of oil and 60 MMSCFD of gas.
  • Buic C14 Project: Operated by ExxonMobil Cepu Ltd, this project started production on June 23, 2025, with a planned capacity and production of 9,700 BOPD.

These ongoing project completions underscore Indonesia’s commitment to bolstering its oil and gas production capabilities, contributing to national energy security and economic advancement.
