Liverpool FC Parade Incident: Man charged After Party Turns Chaotic
Liverpool, England-Paul Doyle, 53, appeared before the Merseyside magistrates’ court on Friday, May 30, 2025, facing charges stemming from an incident during the Liverpool FC victory parade earlier in the week.The former British marine is accused of driving his car into a crowd of supporters, resulting in numerous injuries.
The Charges

Doyle, a father of three teenagers from a Liverpool suburb, will have another hearing on August 14, where he is expected to enter a plea. A provisional trial date has been set for November 24, with the trial anticipated to last three to four weeks.
Court Appearance
Dressed in a black suit, white shirt, and gray tie, Doyle remained composed during two hearings. He provided his name, age, and address, reportedly struggling to hold back tears at the start of the proceedings.
Prosecutor Philip Astbury alleged that Doyle deliberately
drove into the crowd,using his car like a weapon.
The Incident
The incident occurred on Monday evening as hundreds of thousands of supporters gathered in the city center to celebrate Liverpool FC’s victory. According to initial investigations, Doyle’s car entered a street that had been temporarily reopened to allow an ambulance to pass.
Images shared on social media showed the car quickly surrounded by a crowd of supporters, some of whom were hostile while others attempted to open the car doors. The driver reportedly accelerated,hitting people on both sides of the street. One man was thrown onto the hood, and a child was trapped under the vehicle, transforming a day of celebration into a scene of chaos and despair.
Background of the Accused
Doyle was arrested at the scene,and police quickly ruled out terrorism as a motive,describing the incident as isolated. Authorities identified Doyle as a 53-year-old white British man from the Liverpool suburbs and urged the public do not speculate
or spread false information online. He remains in custody.
Victims and Examination
The 79 injured individuals, all British, range in age from 9 to 78. As of Thursday, seven remained hospitalized. Prosecutor Sarah Hammond stated that the charges will continue to be examined as the investigation progresses.
She emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, with a considerable volume of elements
to be reviewed, including many videos and testimonies.

Married for 20 years,Doyle works in cybersecurity,according to British media reports. Social media photos depict him on family vacations to destinations such as Japan, India, and the Fiji Islands. He is also said to have participated in triathlons and climbed Mount kilimanjaro.
