MMA fighter subdues Burglar in Florida home Invasion
WILTON MANORS, FL – A Florida homeowner with mixed martial arts (MMA) training successfully defended his home against a burglar early Monday morning, leaving the intruder severely injured and in police custody.
Henny R., 28, was awakened by his nephew’s alarm call shortly before midnight, reporting a stranger in the living room. Confronting the intruder,identified as Austin C., R. utilized his three years of MMA experience, employing kicks and strikes to subdue the suspect.
“I only defended my family with what I had – my hands and feet,” R. told CBS12.
Austin C., 31, managed to escape the house but was promptly apprehended by responding police officers. An arrest photo reveals meaningful facial injuries, including bruising, swelling, and a forehead laceration.
The suspect initially claimed he mistakenly entered the house, believing it belonged to a friend after consuming alcohol at a nearby bar. Authorities dismissed this explanation. He is being held on a $20,000 bond and is prohibited from contacting the homeowner or his family.
