Malaysian Duo to Battle for Syed Modi international Badminton Title
LUCKNOW,India – Malaysia is guaranteed to take home the men’s doubles title at the Syed Modi International Badminton Championships after Kang Khai Xing-Aaron Tai and Chia Weijie-Lwi Sheng Hao both secured victories in their semi-final matches today. The all-Malaysian final will be held in Lucknow, India, as part of the Super 300 tournament.
This result marks a significant achievement for Malaysian badminton, demonstrating the growing strength of its doubles program. With two pairs in the final, Malaysia has already surpassed its performance from previous years and is poised to further solidify its position as a leading force in the sport.The outcome of the final will determine which duo claims the championship title and valuable ranking points.
Khai Xing and Tai advanced to the final after a hard-fought win against Russia’s Rodion Alimov and Maksim Ogloblin, prevailing with scores of 21-15 and 22-20.
Weijie and Sheng Hao also secured their place in the final, overcoming compatriots Faiq Haziq Masawi and Lok Hong Quan in a three-game thriller: 21-5, 16-21, 21-17.
however, the tournament didn’t yield positive results for all Malaysian contenders. The women’s doubles pair of Ong Xin Yee and Carmen Ting saw their hopes of reaching the final dashed, losing to India’s Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand Pullela 21-11, 21-15.
