Lenovo Launches Compact, 100W Three-Port GaN Charger for $32
BEIJING – Lenovo has unveiled an updated version of its ThinkPlus GaN charger, now featuring a three-port design while maintaining the compact form factor of the original single-port model. The new charger boasts two USB Type-C ports and one USB Type-A port, offering broad compatibility with a range of devices.
The charger utilizes a GaN Pro chip, which Lenovo claims achieves 93% power efficiency and allows the device to be 50% smaller than conventional chargers with comparable power output. The two USB-C ports deliver a maximum of 100W, while the USB Type-A port provides up to 30W. When all ports are in use, the first USB-C port is capped at 65W, with the second USB-C and USB-A ports sharing a combined 15W output.
Lenovo states the charger can power a ThinkPad X1 from 0% to 44% in 30 minutes, and a macbook Pro 16 to 40% in the same timeframe. It supports multiple fast-charging protocols including QC 3.0, PD 3.0, AFC, FCP, PPS, and others.
The charger includes a 1.5-meter, 240W-capable fast charging cable (at least in the Chinese market). It is currently available in china for CNY 229, approximately $32. Lenovo has not yet announced plans for an international release, and ThinkPlus accessories have historically had limited global availability. A similarly configured Anker Prime 100W charger is currently available on Amazon for $41.99.
