IPhone SE & Discontinued Apple Devices – Apple Support

## Apple Adds Five Products to its Discontinued List, Ending Official Service

Apple has recently added five products to its list of “discontinued” hardware, meaning official service and parts availability will no longer be supported. This is a routine occurrence given teh lifespan of Apple’s extensive product line.

The newly discontinued devices include the original iPhone SE (launched in 2016), the second-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro, the apple Watch Series 4 Hermes Edition, the Apple Watch Series 4 Nike Edition, and the Beats Pill 2.0 speaker.

Notably, the standard Apple Watch Series 4 continues to receive service. Apple defines “discontinued” products as those no longer sold by Apple for more than seven years, clarifying that the classification is based on the date the product was removed from Apple’s store, *not* its original launch date.

According to apple’s policy, “Apple will discontinue all hardware service for discontinued products, and service providers will not be able to order parts for discontinued products.” Though, some Mac laptops might potentially be eligible for extended battery-only service for up to ten years from the date they were last sold, contingent on parts availability.Beyond discontinued products, Apple also maintains a list of “vintage” products – those that have been out of production for more than five years. Service for these devices will be phased out within the next two years. Currently, this list includes devices like the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 11 Pro Max. A complete list of discontinued and vintage Apple products can be found in this support document: https://support.apple.com/de-de/102772.
