Apple’s iPhone 17 Lineup to Feature Faster Wireless Charging

CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA – Apple’s forthcoming iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro models will incorporate Qi2.2 wireless charging technology, enabling power transfer speeds up to 25 watts. The upgrade aligns wireless charging capabilities with the Magsafe 2 standard introduced last year and expands charging options for users.

This advancement signifies a shift towards broader compatibility for Apple consumers. The Qi2.2 standard allows iPhone 17 users to achieve optimal charging speeds with both Magsafe accessories and a wider range of Qi2.2-enabled wireless chargers. Accessory manufacturers are already developing new products to leverage the technology, offering consumers increased choice and convenience.

Qi2.2 represents an evolution of wireless charging, delivering a maximum power output of 25 watts. Devices utilizing Qi2.2-compatible chargers will benefit from the full charging potential. Multiple manufacturers have begun integrating support for the new standard into their latest charging devices.

Notably, the iPhone Air will retain a 20-watt charging capacity, whether utilizing Magsafe or Qi2.2, representing a slower charging speed compared to the iPhone 17 series.

By adopting Qi2.2, Apple reinforces its dedication to enhancing the wireless charging experience, providing users with greater accessory flexibility while maintaining performance and safety. The iPhone 17 is expected to launch in September 2025.
