Jakarta, Indonesia – The Indonesian Presidential Communications Office and the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) have affirmed their commitment to a transparent legal process regarding allegations of corruption against Nadiem Makarim, founder of Gojek, in connection with a Ministry of Education and Culture chromebook procurement project. The statements come in response to claims made by lawyer Hotman paris Hutapea asserting Makarim’s innocence.
Presidential Communications Office Head Hasan Nasbi stated on Saturday (September 5, 2025) that the government will not intervene in the ongoing investigation. “We just leave it to law enforcers. The government does not intervene in legal proceedings,” Nasbi told reporters. This case has drawn notable public attention due to Makarim’s prominent role in Indonesia’s tech industry and his past association with the government. the outcome of the investigation could impact future government technology procurement practices and public trust.
The AGO echoed this stance, emphasizing the importance of allowing the investigation to proceed without interference. AGO spokesperson Anang Supriatna confirmed on Saturday (September 6, 2025) that investigators will thoroughly examine all parties potentially involved. “this case is in the investigation stage.Let it go according to the provisions and we respect the principle of presumption of innocence against the person concerned,” supriatna said. He added that investigators aim to uncover all relevant legal facts.
