Gaza Border Crossing Reopened: Aid Delivery Resumes Amid Ceasefire Concerns

Gaza ‍Aid Resumes Through Kerem Shalom as⁣ Ceasefire holds, Body Handed ‍Over

Following a⁢ brief suspension, aid deliveries⁤ to the Gaza Strip have resumed through⁣ the Kerem Shalom border crossing as of Monday, operating “in full accordance with the signed agreement” between Israel and Hamas. The Rafah ‍crossing remains closed. This reopening comes after ‍Israel halted aid deliveries the previous day, citing alleged breaches of the ceasefire agreement reached⁢ on october 10th. Both ⁢Israel and⁢ Hamas had previously accused each other of violating the terms.

The resumption‌ of aid is critical given the fragile ceasefire and the urgent humanitarian needs of⁤ the Palestinian population. The German Federal Government has urged both Hamas and the Israeli government to uphold their commitments to‍ the Gaza peace plan, expressing⁤ concern ⁢over the‌ recent disruption.A government spokesperson stated the expectation that all parties “fully and promptly honour the commitments they have made,” acknowledging the long-term nature⁣ of the disarmament process and the challenges ⁣involved.

Alongside the aid resumption,‍ Israel received another body⁢ from Hamas, as part of the ongoing⁣ agreement.

France is advocating⁢ for a notable expansion of the ⁣EU border‌ protection operation in the Gaza ⁢Strip, proposing a strengthening of the mission to facilitate not only passenger travel but also‌ increased freight transport. The goal is to ensure humanitarian ‍aid reaches Gaza safely and on a ⁤large scale⁣ to alleviate suffering.
