Fujifilm Launches Professional Filmmaking Camera and Zoom Lens
LOS ANGELES, CA – September 12, 2024 - Fujifilm North America Corp., Electronic Imaging division, today announced the GFX Eterna 55, its first camera engineered primarily for professional filmmakers, alongside the fujinon GF32-90mm T3.5 PZ OIS WR, a motorized zoom lens specifically designed for the GFX system. The releases mark Fujifilm’s continued expansion into the high-end cinema market, building upon its established reputation for image quality and color science.
The GFX Eterna 55 features a 102-megapixel 44×33 large-format sensor and supports a wide range of formats including GF, Premista, 35mm, Anamorphic (35mm), and Super35, as well as 4:3 open-gate filming at up to 48 frames per second. It incorporates Fujifilm’s Digital Film Science, offering 20 built-in Film Simulations, the F-Log2 C color profile with an expansive gamut and dynamic range, and 3D LUT capabilities. Key features include an internal electronic variable ND filter, a flexible native lens mount, and comprehensive connectivity options. The camera boasts a dual-base ISO of 800 and 3,200 and supports five codecs, including Apple ProRes 422 HQ. It can output 4:2:2 10-bit uncompressed data and up to 8K/30P 12-bit video in Raw data via HDMI, and supports Frame.io C2C functionality. A 2,000-nit 5″ adjustable LCD display and internal NP-W235 battery (providing up to 30 minutes of filming) are also included, alongside CFExpress Type B and SD card media support.
Complementing the camera,the fujinon GF32-90mm T3.5 PZ OIS WR zoom lens is compatible with both the GFX Eterna 55 and the GFX100 II.Constructed with 25 lens elements in 19 groups – including three extra-low dispersion and three aspherical lenses – the lens mirrors the operability and design of Fujinon Premista zoom lenses. It measures 8.7″ in length and weighs approximately 4.6 pounds.
The Fujifilm GFX Eterna 55 is priced at $16,499.95 and will begin shipping in October. The Fujinon GF32-90mm T3.5 PZ OIS WR lens is available for $5,995.95, also shipping in October.
