Bergamo, Italy – A comprehensive health initiative offering free screenings and vaccinations for women is underway across the Bergamo province, spearheaded by the ASST Papa Giovanni XXIII and ASST Bergamo Est. The program, launched in conjunction with the World HPV Awareness Day (March 4th) and International Women’s Day (March 8th), aims to promote preventative care and early detection of cancers affecting women.
Free mammography screenings are available on March 4th at the San Giovanni Bianco Hospital and March 5th at the Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital in Bergamo, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The screenings are targeted towards women aged 45-49 who haven’t had a mammogram in the last 12 months, and those aged 50-74 who haven’t had one in the past 24 months. Appointments must be booked through the regional portal: prenotasalute.regione.lombardia.it.
Alongside mammography, free HPV vaccinations will be administered on March 4th and 5th at the Bergamo Borgo Palazzo Vaccination Center (8:30 AM – 12:00 PM) and on March 5th at the Zogno Vaccination Center (1:30 PM – 3:30 PM). Access to the vaccine is open to girls aged 12-26 and women over 26 considered to be at higher risk. No prior appointment is required for vaccination.
Screening for cervical cancer, including Pap tests and HPV tests, is as well being offered. An informational meeting on the Papilloma Virus will be held on March 4th at Villa d’Almè at 2:30 PM, followed by screenings. Pap tests are available for women aged 25-29, while HPV tests are available for women aged 30-64. A similar screening event will take place at the Borgo Palazzo Consultorio in Bergamo on March 6th, beginning with an informational session at 8:30 AM. Appointments for the Borgo Palazzo event can be made by calling 035.2676326 (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM).
The ASST Papa Giovanni XXIII is also hosting an information point on women’s health services within the Hospital Street of the Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital on March 3rd, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Healthcare professionals will be available to provide information and promote health education.
Separate initiatives are being conducted by ASST Bergamo Est. On March 6th, free psychological consultations will be available at the Community Houses in Seriate, Grumello del Monte, Alzano Lombardo, Trescore Balneario, and Clusone, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Appointments are recommended by calling 035.3063227 (active February 20th to March 5th, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM). On March 7th, free Pap tests will be offered at the family consultancies in Trescore Balneario and Gazzaniga (10:00 AM – 12:00 PM) and Seriate (3:00 PM – 5:00 PM). Reservations for these Pap tests are required via email.
