Nina Chuba to Host First-of-its-Kind “Fortnite” Experience, Culminating in Virtual Concert
Cologne, Germany – German musician Nina Chuba is launching a new experience within Fortnite, built around the popular Tycoon game genre. Developed by fortnite creator Philip Geißler, known as Standart Skill, and a team of up to ten people over several months, the experience allows up to four players to collaboratively build a treehouse representing Chuba’s music studio by collecting resources and coins.
Players can unlock mini-games throughout the experience, ultimately leading to a virtual appearance by Chuba herself. A new song by Chuba is also being released as a “Jam Track” playable throughout Fortnite as background or profile music.
According to Geißler, the project-commissioned by Sony Music-is the first Fortnite experience for an artist worldwide to utilize the Tycoon genre. He estimates it will take players between two and three hours to unlock the final concert. Chuba was actively involved in the design, incorporating references to her music and persona.
Geißler emphasized the importance of balancing branding with engaging gameplay, warning that overt advertising can alienate players. ”A prosperous Fortnite experience has to be fun,” he stated. “It has to be simple enough so that everyone understands what it is indeed about relatively quickly. And there has to be some form of progress so that the players stay with it and ask themselves: What comes next, what can I still unlock?”
