China Defends Trade Diversification, Calls for Dialog Amidst Geopolitical Tensions
Beijing, September 11, 2025 – China today addressed a range of international concerns, from slowing export growth to escalating tensions in Eastern Europe and the South China Sea, reaffirming its commitment to global economic stability and peaceful resolution of disputes. Speaking at a regular press briefing, Foreign ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian highlighted the resilience of China’s foreign trade and urged de-escalation in regional conflicts.
Trade Resilience Despite US Tariff Impact
Responding to questions about a slowdown in China’s export growth, notably to the United States, Lin jian emphasized the continued strength of trade relationships with the European Union, ASEAN, Africa, and Latin America. He noted that China’s trade in goods rose by 3.5% year-on-year in the first eight months of 2025, attributing this success to diversified partnerships and the meaningful contribution of foreign-funded companies operating
