A New York Times investigation published this tuesday details allegations of abuse spanning over three decades against Errol Musk, father of Elon Musk.The report, based on judicial records, family correspondence, interviews, and reports from social workers, outlines a pattern of disturbing behavior alleged to have occurred in both South Africa and the United States.
The investigation centers around accusations from five children and stepchildren who claim to have been victims of inappropriate touching, sexualized comments, and invasive behaviors. Jana Bezuidenhout, Errol musk’s stepdaughter, alleges abuse dating back to when she was four years old, stating, “He smelled of my dirty inner clothing.” Bezuidenhout later had a child with Errol Musk in a relationship he described as “natural” and “planned by God.”
Other allegations include one child claiming their father “sucked his buttocks” when they were only five years old. Three police investigations were opened in response to the claims; two were closed due to lack of evidence, and one remains ongoing.

There is no record of a response from Elon Musk. However, Jana Bezuidenhout, now 37 and a mother of three, stated that she receives monthly financial support from Elon Musk, who also purchased a car for her. “Elon has always been present,” she said.
The investigation underscores the prolonged silence surrounding the allegations and the resulting psychological impact on the victims. “For years, no one heard us,” one complainant stated. “Now we want the truth to be known.”
Errol Musk, born and raised in Pretoria, South Africa, achieved prominence as an entrepreneur in his 20s and 30s and served on the Pretoria Municipal Council. He has at least nine children and stepchildren and has been married three times.
