Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr‘s wife drove on a 24-year-old babysitter during the holiday in Sardinia.
The babysitter has now died as a result of the injuries.
– She expresses her despair and deep regret about this very serious accident, says her lawyer.
51-year-old Vivian Alexandra Spohr was on holiday in the Luxury Resort of Porto Cervo in Sardinia when she drove over the babysitter Gaia Costa, 24. The incident occurred on Tuesday when the babysitter was going over a pedestrian crossing.
According to the newspaper Corriere News Costa must have seen a BMW drive against her and lift her arm to pay attention to the driver. The violent collision that followed resulted in her punching her head and suffering severe brain damage.
When the ambulance was in place, the 24-year-old was still alive, but 20 minutes later she died as a result of the injuries.
Is investigated for causing the death of another
Spohr should have continued to drive the car a few meters before she stopped. When she stepped out and saw what had happened, she was so shocked that she fainted, according to witnesses in place.
“Vivian Spohr, who was involved in the tragic death, expresses his despair and deep remorse over this very serious accident,” her lawyer Angelo Merlini told Italian The Republic.
She is now being investigated for the death of another’s death by Italian police, but has now flown home to Berlin. The lawyer believes that she will cooperate fully in the investigation.
