AVC Espoir announces Vite app for stroke awareness in Côte d'Ivoire

AVC Espoir announces Vite app for stroke awareness in Côte d’Ivoire

October 25, 2026 Dr. Michael Lee – Health Editor Health

Abidjan Launch of Vite Mobile Application for Stroke Awareness

A mobile application named Vite will launch in Côte d’Ivoire to help the public recognize stroke symptoms and take immediate action. Chantal-Benelde Gnahouo Zahoui, founder of the NGO AVC Espoir and a stroke survivor, announced the software during a press briefing on Friday, October 23, 2026, at the Omniprésence consulting agency in Abidjan.

Developed with volunteer support, the Vite application is scheduled for an official presentation on October 29, 2026, before becoming downloadable on the Play Store. The tool guides users through identifying stroke symptoms and details the correct procedures to follow during a suspected medical emergency.

National Stroke Campaign Focuses on Acute Symptoms

The application launch serves as a precursor to the 7th edition of the National Stroke Awareness Days, organized under the theme Every minute counts in the face of a stroke: let’s save lives. Chantal Zahoui emphasized the abrupt nature of stroke manifestations during her remarks to journalists, pointing to sudden facial drooping, difficulty lifting an arm, and unusual speech disturbances as critical warning signs requiring urgent medical care.

While noting existing medical infrastructure improvements in the country, such as those at the Cocody University Hospital and the Bouaké Regional Hospital Center, AVC Espoir stressed that timely patient orientation remains a major hurdle. If you do not know the warning signs, you cannot arrive within the required timeframes, Zahoui warned.

Campaign Mobilizes Partners to Amplify Prevention Messaging

The upcoming awareness campaign aims to mobilize media outlets, healthcare professionals, institutions, and civil society organizations to amplify prevention messaging regarding key risk factors including hypertension, diabetes, smoking, obesity, and physical inactivity. By facilitating access to information through the new digital tool, the NGO seeks to reduce fatalities and long-term disabilities associated with cerebrovascular events.
