Apple’s iPhone is gaining popularity in India, with about 14 million units shipped in 2025,according to market data shared with TechCrunch.
However, the overall smartphone market in India remained relatively stable at around 152–153 million devices. This means Apple’s share of shipments rose to a record 9% across all of 2025.This is an increase from 7% in 2024, according to Counterpoint Research, making it the iPhone’s best year yet in the world’s second-largest smartphone market.
These gains are due to the iPhone’s range of products, growing interest from customers, and wider availability in stores, says Tarun Pathak, director for devices and ecosystems at Counterpoint Research.
Apple has repeatedly highlighted India as a strong market in recent reports. CEO Tim Cook saeid the company had its highest-ever revenue in India during the October earnings call. CFO Kevan Parekh also noted the iPhone’s active user base reached a new high in India, and the company saw a record number of customers upgrading their phones. apple is working to attract both new and existing users, but didn’t share specific numbers for India during the call.
apple is also expanding in India by increasing local manufacturing and opening more retail stores. Last month, the company opened a new store in Noida.
