Intel has reportedly begun distributing preliminary versions of its 14A process technology to key customers. Several of these clients have expressed interest in utilizing the process for test chip production. Industry observers anticipate that Nvidia’s entry-level Gaming GPUs and Apple’s M-series processors could be among the first to adopt Intel’s 14A manufacturing node.
This development follows previous indications of Nvidia’s interest in Intel Foundry Services. Notably,Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang had previously lauded TSMC’s technological superiority. However, for both Apple and Nvidia, securing a secondary foundry partner, especially one with manufacturing facilities in the United States, presents a strategic advantage amidst escalating geopolitical and commercial tensions. Samsung appears to be less of a viable option in this scenario, positioning Intel as a potential key player. These ongoing rumors continue to fuel speculation surrounding Intel’s foundry ambitions.
Given Apple’s critically important shift away from Intel processors in recent years, the prospect of their return to Intel’s manufacturing capabilities warrants close observation.
