Nevada Cities Rank Low in National Dog-Friendliness Study

HENDERSON, NV – December 4, 2025 – A new ranking by LawnStarter reveals Nevada cities generally lag behind the rest of the nation in providing a supportive surroundings for dog owners. While no Nevada city cracked the top 10, Henderson, Sparks, and North Las Vegas ‍were assessed, ⁢placing at‍ No. 355, No. 417,and No. 490 ⁣respectively, out of the 500 ‌largest U.S. cities. North ⁣Las Vegas even‍ landed on the⁣ list of⁣ the 10 worst cities⁢ for dog friendliness, tying for the bottom spot.

The study, released today, evaluated cities based on 37 ⁤metrics⁣ across five key‍ themes: Care (36%), Community​ (28%), Businesses (12%), Housing (16%), and Affordability (8%).

Henderson scored relatively well in community‍ amenities,⁤ but suffered from⁤ a low housing ranking and limited access to dog-friendly businesses and pet services, though pet-care affordability was a strength. Sparks received low ⁢marks in care, community features, and dog-friendly⁤ businesses, with housing performing slightly better. North Las Vegas consistently ranked​ poorly across veterinary access, community amenities, and dog-friendly businesses, with housing​ and affordability also contributing ⁤to its low overall score.

Nationally,Frederick,Maryland,topped the list as the most dog-friendly city,while Cicero,Illinois,was ranked the worst.
