Title: Epy Kusnandar Dies: ‘Kang Mus’ of Preman Pensiun Passes Away

Indonesian actor Epy Kusnandar, best known for his long-running role as Kang Mus in the popular television series Preman Pensiun (Retired Thugs), has died, according to a condolence declaration shared widely on social media. He was 59.

Kusnandar’s passing marks the end of a prolific career spanning theater, film, and television, and leaves a void for fans of the Preman Pensiun franchise, where his character served as a central figure for multiple seasons. His recent legal troubles had drawn important media attention, but he remained a recognizable and beloved figure in Indonesian entertainment. A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 4th, at Jeruk purut TPU in South Jakarta at 8:00 AM local time (WIB).

Born Rakhmatullah Epy Kusnandar bin Erning Sutarsa, the actor began his artistic journey in theater before transitioning to television and film. He gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Kang mus,a former gangster attempting to navigate a legitimate life,in Preman Pensiun.

Kusnandar is survived by his wife, Karina Ranau, and their three children. He married Ranau in 2008.

In May 2024, Kusnandar was arrested and named a suspect in a narcotics case involving marijuana.The case had been ongoing at the time of his death. Details surrounding the circumstances of his death have not yet been released.
