Child abuse on the Internet: Major raid for perpetrators

Major Police Raid targets Suspected Child Abuse‍ material Online‌ in​ Baden-Württemberg

Tübingen, Germany ⁣ – A large-scale police operation⁢ across several districts in Baden-Württemberg on Tuesday resulted in teh search‍ of‍ 28 properties and the identification of 31 ⁤suspects linked​ to ​the acquisition, possession, and distribution of child and youth pornography content. The raid, involving 180 officers from the Reutlingen ‌police headquarters, followed information received from US security authorities and ‌extensive prior investigations, including online monitoring.

Police searched 16 properties ‌in ‍the Reutlingen district, six ⁣in the Tübingen⁢ district, five in the Zollernalb district, ​and one in the Esslingen district. authorities seized numerous electronic⁣ devices,including smartphones,tablets,and notebooks,which are currently being evaluated as evidence.

According to a joint statement from the public prosecutor’s office and ⁢the police, the suspects ‌include two women. State ⁣Interior minister ‌Thomas Strobl (CDU) emphasized the severity ⁣of‍ the ⁣crimes, stating, “Child ​abuse is one of the most ⁤disgusting acts becuase it is directed against⁤ the weakest and most helpless in society.” He added that‍ the operation sends a clear message⁢ that perpetrators will be pursued “to the⁤ last corner of digital space.”

No arrests were‍ made during the operation, with authorities focusing on the seizure and‍ analysis of data carriers. the‍ investigation highlights the growing challenge of combating child abuse ‍material online and the increasing collaboration between international law enforcement agencies.
