McDonald’s Customer Arrested after Throwing Hot Coffee at Employee in Saginaw
SAGINAW, MI - A Saginaw woman is facing charges after allegedly throwing a cup of hot coffee at a McDonald’s employee last week, an incident captured on video that quickly circulated online. The altercation stemmed from a dispute over a delayed online order and a subsequent refund.
Casharra Brown, 48, became irate after being informed it could take up too 48 hours for a refund to appear in her account for a burger and coffee order she placed thru the McDonald’s app. According to police and reports from Fox News and the New York Post, brown had complained about waiting over an hour for her food. While a refund was offered, an employee suggested only charging her for the already-prepared coffee. This sparked a heated exchange, culminating in the assault.
The employee was reportedly leaving the counter when Brown removed the lid from her coffee cup and threw the contents onto the woman’s back, yelling “Here’s your coffee,” and adding an unpublishable insult. The employee sustained minor burns.
“We received about a hundred tips,” stated Detective Russ Phassen of the Saginaw Police Department, according to The New york Post. “We identified her within two hours,” adding that Brown lives just three blocks from the restaurant.
Brown has been taken into custody and charges are pending. The incident highlights the increasing frequency of confrontations between customers and service industry workers, often fueled by frustration over service delays or perceived errors.
