The push for a swift agreement comes as the U.S. has privately offered Ukraine security assurances-possibly mirroring NATO’s collective defence commitment-in the event of a significant Russian attack. This offer, revealed in a draft seen by Axios, would stipulate that a “significant, intentional and sustained armed attack” by russia across the ceasefire line would be considered a threat to transatlantic peace, prompting a joint response from the U.S. and NATO allies for a period of ten years.
