From Unfinished Exterior to Stunning Interior: A Bogor Homeowner’s Inspiring Change
A Bogor, West Java homeowner, Yulia Chaerani (known as Hera, 28), has captured attention online with her home, characterized by a deliberately simple exterior that sharply contrasts with its beautifully decorated interior. A recent post showcasing the unfinished brick facade of her house went viral on social media, prompting praise and curiosity.
The initial reaction focused on the contrast. As @zinniriz commented, “Sis, you’re really cool, the most notable thing is comfort in the house first, I’ll just focus on the back and sides and terrace, the inside isn’t as aesthetic as you are😍.” @rizkaarumf added, “In the name of God, it’s going well, it’s already really good for now 😍.”
Hera explained to Wolipop that her focus was intentional. “The post is about home inspiration, and also low budget home decoration. That’s the back door of the house. Prioritizing the inside of the house over the outside as I realize that the inside of the house is where I spend the most time,” she stated.
Hera’s journey began in January 2023 with the purchase of land. She moved into the newly built house in July 2023, at which point the exterior, including the terrace, remained unfinished. Work on the exterior, notably the terrace, continued for another year, and parts of the house are still undergoing construction as of the time of the interview. She noted that the side and rear of the house “have not been repaired” yet.
The 8×8 meter house wasn’t purchased move-in ready; it was built from the ground up. The interior design process itself took approximately three years. Hera prioritized affordable decorative elements to create a significant visual impact. “Most of the time I decorate the interior using wallpaper and low budget materials,” she revealed.
Hera expressed her satisfaction with the final result and was surprised by the overwhelmingly positive response. “alhamdulillah, I like it and I didn’t expect so many people to be inspired,” she said proudly.
Hera hopes her story will inspire others. “The message is that if you want to have a cozy home, you don’t have to have a lot of capital. We can use materials that are economically priced but of good quality. Just be diligent in looking for inspiration on social media and pinterest,” she advised.
