Kampala, Uganda – The Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PACEID) today launched the Uganda Connect International Buyers’ Week, an initiative designed too connect over 100 Ugandan suppliers with international buyers from nine key trade markets. The event, kicking off this week, aims to boost Ugandan exports and attract foreign direct investment.
The Uganda connect International Buyers’ Week will feature over 50 value-added products from Uganda’s agriculture, manufacturing, services, and technology sectors. Participating buyers will come from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Nigeria, south Africa, Serbia, the UK, China, and the USA - countries where Uganda has already established Trade Representatives. The initiative underscores uganda’s growing focus on expanding its global trade partnerships and diversifying its export base.
PACEID’s initiative will utilize structured “Deal Rooms” categorized by market region, alongside factory visits to showcase Uganda’s production capabilities and reliability. The broader Uganda Connect model, spearheaded by PACEID, focuses on promoting exports, enhancing market access, and building buyer confidence through traceability, clarity, and branding.
“When international buyers choose our products, they’re not just buying goods,” said PACEID representative, Rwabwogo. “They’re buying into Uganda – our people, our standards, and our story of conversion.”
Looking ahead, PACEID envisions establishing Uganda Connect Trade Hubs in additional emerging and established markets, including Morocco, Egypt, India, Turkey, UAE, Japan, and Greece, to maintain continuous visibility and accessibility for Ugandan products internationally. The launch of the Buyers’ Week represents a significant step towards realizing this long-term vision.
