Ukraine inflicts Heavy Losses on Russian Forces in Donetsk Region, Recapturing key Village
KYIV, Ukraine – Ukrainian forces have achieved a important victory in the Donetsk region, retaking the strategic village of Torske and inflicting heavy casualties on Russian troops, according to reports from the 425th Skala Separate Assault Regiment. The operation, which resulted in approximately 100 Russian soldiers killed and an undisclosed number taken prisoner, represents a notable gain for Kyiv amidst ongoing fierce fighting along the eastern front.
Torske is situated on a crucial logistical route connecting Kreminna and Lyman, making its control vital for both sides. Ukrainian forces launched a targeted assault on the village after conducting reconnaissance of Russian positions. Assault troops systematically cleared the settlement, house-by-house, encountering disorganized and unprepared Russian units.
“The invaders were holed up in the village with minimal ammunition,” the Skala regiment stated. “They were sitting in basements without water or food.”
Reports indicate that many Russian soldiers attempted to flee, while others surrendered. Despite attempts by Russian commanders to prevent surrenders via drone surveillance, Ukrainian forces secured a significant number of prisoners.
Elsewhere on the Lyman front, units from Ukraine’s Third Army Corps successfully repelled a Russian breakthrough attempt near the village of Stavky. A Russian mechanized column, comprised of armored personnel carriers and a tank, was destroyed through a combination of artillery fire and First-Person View (FVP) drones, resulting in an estimated 20 Russian casualties.
These gains come as Ukraine continues to make incremental advances in several areas, including the recent recapture of Kucheriv Yar earlier this week, approximately 40 kilometers from Pokrovsk, which had been seized by Russian forces in mid-August during a push towards Dobropillia.
Despite these successes, Russia’s army continues to press its offensive in other parts of Ukraine, highlighting the ongoing intensity of the conflict.
