In September 2008, he was appointed Minister of Safety and Security under President Kgalema Motlanthe. He continued in this role – with the ministry later renamed the Ministry of Police – when Jacob Zuma became president.Following Zuma’s re-election, Dr. Ndou was named Minister of Arts and Culture.
Prior to his diplomatic posting in Paris, Dr. Ndou held several key positions within the African National Congress (ANC).He was known for his commitment to social justice and economic empowerment. He presented his credentials to French President Emmanuel Macron in August 2024, taking up his post as ambassador shortly thereafter.
